Finding Light in the Darkest Hours: Trauma Therapy, Meaning, and the Journey Towards Hope
Have you ever felt like the weight of the world was too heavy to bear? Do past traumas cast long shadows over your present, making it difficult to envision a future? If so, you're not alone, and there is hope. I'm Jim Denning, a counselor dedicated to helping individuals navigate their deepest pain and discover pathways toward healing and a renewed sense of purpose.
My journey to becoming a therapist has been anything but traditional, and it's this rich tapestry of life experiences that informs my compassionate and multifaceted approach. From the intensity of prison ministry to the high-stakes environment of training engineers at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and even the insightful conversations shared across a bar, I've witnessed the resilience of the human spirit in countless contexts. These diverse roles have instilled in me a deep understanding of the complexities of human suffering and the profound capacity for growth.

My clinical focus lies in trauma therapy. I understand that trauma can leave lasting wounds, impacting your relationships, your sense of self, and your ability to experience joy. I am trained in powerful and effective modalities such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I've had the privilege of utilizing ART to support veterans through the Lone Survivor Foundation, witnessing firsthand the transformative power of these techniques in processing and integrating traumatic memories.
Beyond traditional therapeutic approaches, I am deeply fascinated by the intersection of psychology, spirituality, and the seemingly unseen forces that shape our lives. My master's degrees in both Ministry and Counseling have fostered a unique perspective that embraces the potential for meaning and connection in the healing process. I explore the intriguing concepts of Carl Jung's synchronicity theories and the principles of quantum field theory and energy work, considering how these perspectives can offer new insights into personal growth and well-being.
My book, "Make it to Midnight: Learning to Live When You Want to Die," reflects my commitment to supporting those grappling with the most profound despair. It's a testament to the possibility of finding a path forward, even when the darkness feels overwhelming.
In our work together, you can expect a warm, non-judgmental, and collaborative space. I believe in your inherent strength and resilience, and I will walk alongside you as you explore your experiences, process difficult emotions, and develop strategies for lasting healing and growth. My aim is not just to alleviate suffering, but to help you connect with a deeper sense of meaning and purpose in your life, fostering a future where you don't just survive, but truly thrive.
If you're ready to take the courageous step towards healing and rediscovering your inner strength, I invite you to reach out. Let's explore together how you can not only make it through the darkest nights but also embrace the dawn of a brighter tomorrow.
